It's time to prevent working burnout

Self-care isn't just taking a bath and calling it a day. It's taking better care of yourself - physically, mentally, spiritually, whatever - there are lots of parts to it too. However, when you start to make yourself a priority, you feel it everywhere. You become more productive, more creative, more energized, and so many other things you wanna be.

After being hit with a major loss in my life in April, I have been experiencing severe burnout and questioning everything. I know I push myself too hard and I really am trying to simplify where I can. I know that I am so much more than the numbers I put down on paper....

I often talk here at The Social Renegade about how, as a productive and entrepreneurial bad ass, it's easy to ignore your personal goals for the sake of meeting career goals and milestones.

Today, I want to talk about how you can STOP that this year (and how you can find help in The Renegade Academy).

I'm all about legit planning and awesome goal setting, but only when used for the power of good. Using productivity and planning to avoid personal stuff and self-care? Not good.

That's when you end up becoming too close for comfort with burnout. I tend to hide away and disappear. Post less on social media and retreat to the sofa or bed, where the overwhelm can't find me.

If you've been here for awhile, you know how seriously I take self-care. With all the spinning plates I have going on with work, self-care needs to be one of those things as well. ⚡️ I’m even going so far as creating a new community for it!

So why *shouldn't* you take self-care strategy as seriously as business strategy?! ⚡️

At the end of the day, THAT'S what most of us need in our businesses...More "me" time. More white space in our calendars. More journaling. More recharging. More hobbies (remember hobbies?!).

Not more time spent talking about and overthinking over your business tactics.

I struggled with self-care for so many years because I looked at it as a luxury, and not a requirement to meet my goals in life. ⚡️

I was perpetually sleep deprived. I didn't make plans with friends because I was "too busy with work."

It all seemed to be the opposite of productivity and working hard, and nothing I was interested in. But once it got to the point where I was too sick and burnt out to be productive anyway, I started better understanding how it all works together.

Spoiler alert: it's all connected!

That's why taking care of your business is so much more than putting strategies into place. It's about living smarter, playing smarter, and resting smarter, too. ⚡️

It means stuff that might sound ridic at first, like systemizing self-care, scheduling "me" time on your calendar, and ditching productivity rules that don't work for your own life.
